Howzit?
We often get asked where to go, which wineries to visit, where to stay and which hidden gems are worth discovering in South Africa.
South Africa is an amazing country and traveling around and experiencing the vibe and the people is truly something special.
Take the scenic route, stop in a small town for some fresh biltong and be ready for some fun conversations when you top up your diesel!
Traveling through the winelands is generally very safe and easy.
The larger producers will have tasting rooms and maybe some guided tours, and the smaller ones is by appointment only and most of them have contact info visible on their website.
Saffas treat weekends like the Norwegians; it´s family time and most of the weekends they head away. They also do this for school holidays, and their summer break is normally from mid-December until first half of January when harvest is coming. They only have one shot a year to get the harvest right, so many will only be able to confirm a visit or not the day before depending on the readiness of the grapes in different vineyards.
Below you'll find our interactive map with locations for many of the producers we work with, places to stay, where to have a snack and also where to have a lekker bottle or a meal.
Most of these places are spots we´ve frequently have visited and some are spots that we´re recommended that we have to check out next time we´re in the area.
